Remembering what’s good, is good

January 26, 2010

So, we spent the weekend in Madrid with Yorkshire Boy’s parents – who live there. It was nice to get away after Blue Monday – and the really rubbish week we’d both had. And I actually found that a weekend away was just what we needed to remember what was good about our life.

1) Beers in the sunshine: How lucky we are to have cool people in our lives who live in interesting places like Spain, Portugal, Berlin, Australia, Norway and Amsterdam. Holidays and friends – perfect!

2) Pottering round The Prado Museum: how, even if it isn’t his thing, Yorkshire Boy gave the 90 rooms of ancient art his time, and actually found that he loved some of it.*

3) A walk in Retiro Park: how easy it is just to ‘be’ together, walking around, looking at people messing about on boats and rollerblading. And how much we laughed together.

4) Cheering for Ronaldo at the Bernabeu: Having been to an art gallery, we then went to a football match. I love it when our diverse interests collide over one weekend. And that we both loved all of them.

5) Playing Trivia on my Iphone: How we can make the most mundane quiz application become like the Clash of the Titans. And how I always win. YB is not a good loser.

*Mariginally alarmed that his absolute favourite was Goya’s Satan Eating His Son, however….

Madrid sounds wonderful – just the thing at this time of year!

That is slightly alarming about the painting! Does he have valid reasons for liking it other than being quite gory?!

    xx
